They are outstanding physicians and scientists with unlimited potential.  We look forward to training them to become great neurosurgeons who will make important contributions to our field.”

Nicholas Dadario

Dr. Nicholas Dadario was born in the Bronx, NY, and raised in Westchester in a large, close-knit family.  He shares, “I became interested in neurosurgery at a very young age—something my family still remarks on—and have always been inspired by the nervous system’s complexity and the profound impact neurosurgeons can have on patients during their most vulnerable moments. The field’s demand for leadership, technical excellence, hard work, and team-based care deeply resonates with me. During college and medical school, I became especially interested in cognition and brain tumors, drawn to neurosurgery’s unique ability to bridge innovative science with life-saving interventions.”

As to why Columbia Neurosurgery was his perfect match, Dr. Dadario shared, “I was drawn to Columbia for its exceptional mentorship, world-class clinical training, and supreme research environment. Many of the mentors who shaped my early path trained or practiced at Columbia, and their influence left a lasting impression on the type of neurosurgeon I hope to become. Columbia’s legacy of excellence across every subspecialty, combined with its commitment to scientific advancement, made it a clear choice.”

Dr. Dadario continued, “As I begin residency, I’m most excited to join the Columbia neurosurgery family and grow alongside a phenomenal group of residents.” Dr. Dadario was also the recipient of the 2024 Southeastern Brain Tumors Neuro-Oncology Trainee Award.

Dr. William M. Savage was born in London, UK, but mostly grew up in Riverdale in the Bronx. He shares, “My interest in neurosurgery grew rapidly during my first years of medical school, especially once I met some of the residents and faculty. I joined Dr. Bruce’s lab and enjoyed working with the group there, including some of my soon-to-be co-residents.”

As to why Columbia Neurosurgery was his perfect match, Dr. Savage shared, “My interest in Columbia Neurosurgery is rooted in my relationships with the residents and faculty. Additionally, I believe the clinical and research opportunities I will receive as a resident at Columbia are unparalleled.”

Dr. Savage continued, “I look forward to continuing to learn and grow over the coming years as I join the group that inspired me to pursue neurosurgery.”

Congratulations to Dr. Dadario and Dr. Savage on joining the team at Columbia Neurosurgery.
